I was thinking about trying the prickly pear flavored one.

But I still don't get the black bubble stuff. Is that supposed to be fish eggs?

[ he assumes not, but god if he knows what that's supposed to be. help him, boba ambassador.]

[ Huh. He's never tried a prickly pear-flavored boba drink before. Maybe he'll get the same thing as Keith, out of curiosity...

What's gotten him more curious, however, is Keith referring to boba as "fish eggs". Riku lets out a laugh -- he can't help it -- and shakes his head. ]

No, no, it's tapioca! Pff, fish eggs would taste pretty bad like this! Maybe fish eggs are one of the mystery boba flavors?

[ Wouldn't that be something. 🤔 What he's getting from this, though, is that Keith hasn't even heard of boba before. This is a crime!! ]

I guess they don't have this where Keith-san's from, huh? Well, that's okay! I've never had a pear-flavored tapioca drink before, so let me know how it is? If it's really bad, you can have mine -- I'm trying the blackberry banana one.

[ While he says that, though, a customer walks out of the store. His face is red and he's coughing up a storm. Seems like someone had the misfortune of getting some spicy boba in their drink....... ]

Ohh... [ the skeptical look on his face clears up a little with that bit of clarification. ] Thought it might've been some delicacy on Primavera.

[ fish roe and tea... doesn't sound like a winning combo, but keith's eaten his fair share of weird alien food, so he can't necessarily judge. oh, who's he kidding, he's absolutely judging anyway. turning slightly to face riku, he continues. ]

I don't know. It might exist back home? I used to live out in the desert. Teashops weren't exactly common out there. [ maybe out closer to the city? though keith hadn't really paid much attention to platt city, admittedly. ] Prickly pear juice is good at least. Dunno about it in tea form, but ....

[ aaaand there goes the poor victim boba roulette, coughing up a storm and taking keith's train of thought with him. leith's eyes narrow suspiciously again. ]

... You're sure boba is good?

Eh? The desert? Well, that would explain it... I've never tried prickly pear juice before, but if it's sweet, it'll probably taste good with tapioca?

[ That's just his best guess, though; he doesn't actually know what he's talking about. Whatever train of thought he had after that though is interrupted by the incessant coughing, and he turns to look at the poor customer with a concerned look on his face.

At Keith's question, though, he quickly turns back to look at Keith. He flails around a little, trying to reassure him that boba really isn't that bad...under normal circumstances. ]

Yeah!! I don't know what's going on with that person over there, it's supposed to be sweet and chewy! ... On earth, anyway!

[ That's where the problem lies. This isn't earth!!! ]

I think they might've gotten that one-percent spicy boba or something... I promise that it doesn't hurt otherwise!
