[ the ways in which shiro appreciates keith are numerous, from his hardwon, yet everlasting loyalty to his precious, soft-heartedness that is so often overlooked. there’s another aspect that he absolutely values, despite it garnering keith a bad wrap that stems all the way back to junior high: his fight. it’s true that keith has not always channeled it in the best ways, but at least he has that kind of spirit in him; the no nonsense, shoot from the hip drive to get through any situation. it’s why shiro believes keith will make a good leader of voltron if the worst ever happens. although unconventional, keith’s got the tenacity required to cut out the bullshit, identify the problem and do what is required to see things done.
keith’s strong. every obstacle that’s been forced in his path has only made him stronger and although, the softer parts of shiro’s soul wish keith didn’t have those experiences, they are absolutely necessary to have made keith into the person he is. and shiro loves the person keith has become, both in his reality and in this one.
even so, even with all of that said, he’s thrown by the pushback. fingers tingling from the hard squeeze and lips tingling, too, as they part open in the aftermath of that hard kiss, shiro blinks shocked. he does exactly what he’s told to do though: he shuts up and remains shut up. actually, he snaps his lips closed. now he remains shut up. watching keith move with plain fascination, shiro is comically – and embarrassingly – awed in the way he looks at keith, absolutely spun on how keith simply decides to take control and rework the path they’re set on.
it shouldn’t be so easy. the ill-felt feelings of not even a minute ago should not dissipate into nothing, not when the issue is on-going and inescapable, but here shiro is nonetheless, feeling heat and amusement and – fuck, desire flow through him, filling in all the gaps that left him cold moments ago. keith’s kind of hot when he’s bossy. the thought comes to him and, helpless to it, shiro laughs, bringing his hands up to push through his own hair, forcing his floof back. ]
