[ ah, shit. he’s in trouble, isn’t he? he didn’t mean that as in the space wolf. that as the situation with the space wolf. but even he can see that tussling over words is petty and shallow, especially when it’s only the superficial layer of an issue that runs much deeper. it’s not that he dislikes the space wolf… now. he did before, yes, but he’s grown on shiro, mostly due to keith obviously being immensely fond of him.
sure, shiro would rather not routinely share a bed with an oversized pet who has a habit of scooting in close to keith. sometimes, shiro wakes up to keith cuddling that hunk of fur instead of him. shiro usually counters that by pressing keith to the bed the following evening and kissing him heavy until keith tells the wolf to go to his cube because they need privacy. making out and having an empty cube – it’s a wonder he doesn’t do that every night. actually, it’s not much of a mystery. keith loves that wolf. so as juvenile as shiro can become over hoarding keith’s affection, he does see that keith needs time with that pup. and besides, he can’t not like something or someone who brings keith joy, despite whatever fading reservations he still carries all these months later.
he could save them both a lot of time and energy if he simply said as much. if he started with an apology, too. but, petulantly, he fixates on that last thing keith said: we’ll sit by the beach afterwards. what’s that supposed to mean? is keith not planning on cuddling up to shiro, sweaty, sated, an exhausted? is he really going to get dressed and go hang out with his dog, while shiro lies here alone, staring at the ceiling?
bending down, he puts the plush on the floor, leaning its happy face up against the wall. with that, he walks over as instructed and sits down next to keith. all the while, he doesn’t say a thing. he merely awaits whatever is coming to him, face already scrunched into a small pout. ]
every one would love this... except shiro, apparently
