[ listen. he’s conducting an experiment. it’s important that he know what effects are currently wreaking havoc; not that he learns much from this other than don’t touch things. the how, the why, the when is this going to be over are, of course, unanswerable right now, but this is a start. which works out, really, considering keith throws him off course not more than three seconds later. shiro snaps his gaze up at that, only crossing keith’s gaze for half a beat to see the tail-end of that surprise before keith is looking away.
ah. the slight waver in his voice is telling, as is the look on his face. this is something to tread lightly with.
shiro does his best to be comforting and offers up a smile, one that colors his voice sweet and just the slightest bit playful. ]

making sure keith is out of the way, he nudges the door open with his deactivated, metal hand, smiling even though the space wolf bullies in before him. ]
Burn proof. Guess you could say the metal hand comes in, heh, handy.
[ the space wolf isn’t shy in taking over keith’s space and considering the size of the cell, there isn’t much to give. shiro stands in the doorway for now, crouching down to pick up the ramen cup. ]
But… I don’t know, Keith. I don’t know why it’s happening, but I don’t think this place ever needs a reason to mess with us.
[ back to his feet, shiro looks to keith and can’t stop the concern from overtaking his expression, wilting his smile. ]
I heard about the corpse you guys found. I didn’t know you did anything to it. [ a softer: ] Do you wanna talk about it?
